The State Minister for Sports, Hon Peter Ogwang has today Tuesday 22nd, 8, 2022, given out 140 bicycles to Ngariam Parish Councilors in fulfillment of his promise during the 2021 campaigns.
This was during Ngariam Leaders meeting at Katakwi Technical School to sensitize them on the importance of monitoring the different government programmes in their areas of operation.
The bicycles he said are to help the councilors monitor the progress of government programmes like the Parish Development Model that has been introduced and will be managed at the parish level.
“We shall be gathering here after every 3 months to discuss our constituency’s achievements and flaws so that we can be able to fix where necessary and involve other players where we can not handle,” said Ogwang.
The Minister implored the leaders to take charge and ensure that the local people whom they serve benefit from the various programmes and ensure transparency in the process without discriminating others.
Joseph Isadat, the Katakwi town council district councilor and a beneficiary of the bicycle donation who represented other councilors expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the minister for fulfilling his pledge to them.
He says this will ensure fast mobility and timely monitoring of what happens in their locality.
Isadat thanked Ogwang for his personal contribution towards developing Ngariam County even if its outside his mandate as the area Member of Parliament.
He encouraged people to support politicians who work for the development of the general community.
During the 2021 parliamentary campaigns, Hon Ogwang pledged to donate bicycles to ease transport of parish councilors so that they can help the extend information to both their electorates and coordinate council activities.
