There is a euphoric atmosphere in Kitgum district as football lovers prepare to cheer the Acholi province team verses the Buganda team in FUFA Drum quarter finals.
The match will be played at Kitgum boma grounds on September 11, 2022.
District leaders say that they too are excited to welcome visitors from various parts of Uganda for the game.
Okin PP Ojara, member of Parliament for Chua West constituency, said that all Acholi MPs are looking forward to support Acholi province team in the forthcoming game.
Okin explained that this would be great development to the district and he cautioned people of Kitgum to be disciplined and hospitable towards visitors.
He also appealed to fans to support Acholi province for them to play a better game.
Christopher Obol Arwai, the LC5 chairperson of Kitgum district, applauded FUFA for choosing Kitgum Boma ground to host the 2022 quarter final.
Awari said the game will market Kitgum district and he urged the business community, especially hotel owners to prepare their facilities well as they welcome visitors from all corners of Uganda.
However, Walter Ocaya, the kits manager for the Acholi province team, stressed on the need to support the team and applauded the “Wiya Wiya” fans group for fundraising of shs400,000 which has been handed to the province soccer team.
Ocaya said currently their team needs a lot of support because some players have not arrived to begin preparations since most of them are based outside the region.
“This has been the weakness of the management team of Acholi for not responding to their request on time to aid players who need money for transport to join the camp,” he said.
He attributed the issue to communication gap between the management and the technical team which sometimes discourages some players.
Meanwhile Denis Okot, the captain of the Acholi province, assured fans that they will play their best to win the game against Buganda.
He said he is confident that whatever challenges they are going through will not discourage them from doing best to beat Buganda in this quarter final game.
Okot appealed to the people to come out in big numbers on Sunday to support and morale boost the players.
