Relentless efforts by the health workers resuscitating Ebola patients at the various treatment facilities in Uganda has resulted into the recovery of the fourth person.
This is according to the Ministry of health communications officer, Emmanuel Ainebyoona who in a statement confirmed the development.
“Good News: Recoveries from Ebola increase to four. Many thanks to the health workers who [are] working day and night for us to attain life saving outcomes in the Ebola treatment units,” he stated.
Health minister, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, announced the discharges of the first two Ebola survivors five days ago when she visited Mubende hospital to among others launch a mobile test laboratory.
The lab is expected to reduce the turnaround time for Ebola test results, officials said.
So far there have been 12 deaths attributed to the dreaded Ebola since the viral hemorrhagic disease outbreak was confirmed in Mubende district last month.
Of the cumulative deaths, ministry of health says seven were definitively confirmed including the death on October 1, 2022 of a Tanzanian medical student, Dr Muhammed Ali,37, who lost the battle to Ebola at Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital.
Cumulative confirmed cases stand at 35 after the epidemic hit four districts- Mubende, Kyegegwa, Kassanda and Kagadi.
The health ministry has called on the public to report any suspected cases to the nearest health facility, while calling on the people to observe strict preventive measures, including avoiding hand shake and contact with body fluids from people suspected to have Ebola.
